In theory, we’re all striving to be greener. There’s no single definition of Destination Zero, but most fleets would agree that lowering emissions is an important goal. The reality, however, is that any initiative to improve sustainability must also bring wider benefits for a business. Few companies can afford to adopt technology to help the planet unless it also brings about improvements for people and profit. Our area of expertise is intelligent video telematics for fleets. We help companies to introduce solutions that can help to reduce carbon emissions by reporting on factors including speed, acceleration, route characteristics and idling time. Patterns can be detected, and action taken. At the same time, intelligent dash cams can protect and empower drivers, reducing the likelihood of an accident by recognising risky behaviours early on and alerting drivers so they can self-correct in the moment before something more serious happens. The result is operational gains for fleets and a “virtuous circle” of sustainability. Drivers are able to make deliveries on time and without incident, bringing commercial advantage to a fleet. Insurance premiums are likely to be lower, reducing costs, and fewer repairs will be required. This barely scratches the surface of what video can do but already, we can start to see how it can impact multiple areas of the business.
