Doug was a Police Officer with The Cheshire Constabulary, spending almost 10 years on the Motor Patrol Unit on the Motorcycle, Traffic and Motorway divisions. He is also a qualified Police Driving Instructor.
He was the founder and Managing Director of Driving Services UK Limited, where he provided Motor Fleet Risk Management solutions, across all classes, for almost 20 years. During this time, he was responsible for coordinating the service proposition of over 150 staff and trainers, delivering services throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East, working with clients, brokers and insurers.
After selling Driving Services UK Ltd, Doug joined QBE European Operations as a Practice leader for Motor responsible for providing fleet risk management solutions for a range of clients, vehicle fleets. He was also responsible for raising the profile of motor risk management throughout the insurance market and broker network.
Doug joined AXA MATRIX in January 2013 as a Global Motor Fleet Risk Management Coordinator to develop the Global network and services provided to AXA Corporate Solutions fleet clients.
Doug moved to AXA Insurance in January 2016 to develop the motor risk management resources within AXA I in the UK, but also remained responsible for the Motor Risk Management for AXA CS now AXAXL.
Working extensively in the UK, Europe and South America, including Mexico City, solutions were provided for clients such as Cemex, Siemens, Coca Cola, PepsiCo, Mondelez, formerly Cadbury and Kraft Foods, Schneider Electric, Hilti, Carillion, Galliford Try, GSK, Hanson and HP to name a few.
Doug has now developed the knowledge base for autonomy, has chaired and presented at many Autonomous Insurance events throughout Europe and is involved in many projects looking at the future of mobility, vehicles and smart city infrastructures.
Doug is an independent reviewer of Safety Cases for autonomous vehicle trials.
Doug attended the CES Autonomous Vehicle Convention in Las Vegas in January 2020.
Doug was a panellist representing AXA on the TRT Global TV series Roundtable in December 2019 when the topic was driverless vehicles.
